Social Media and free internet has turned me into a blunkie (blog junkie)! I've decided to publish one myself this year and I am committing to doing it for at least a year. Some recent career decisions have given me the opportunity to have a creative outlet in maintaining my own blog - Welcome Footle Nouveau! Let me tell you how I came up with such a name, so that you too can enjoy the pure silliness of saying it!
I love the Art Nouveau style of the late 1800's. This movement in style is characterized by organic, especially floral and other plant-inspired designs and flowy, curvy lines. (TOTALLY my style - see Peacock to right) Art Nouveau is a design approach in which artists would use anything from architecture to furniture (perhaps blogging in my case!) to make everyday life beautiful. It literally means 'New Art'. Footle is a word I found on a website full of wonderful uncommon and unused English words. I will surely be using words from this site frequently. Footle simply means to waste time or talk nonsense. This paired with Nouveau makes for a collaboration of words that is just plain fun to say! A new waste of time! The above picture displays a few of the sources of inspiration I'm planning to use. Hopefully one if not all, intrigue you in some way, to come back and check it out another day!
